For a long time was the most powerful Mafia family in the country. Is based in New York, but their power extended into New Jersey, Connecticut, California, Baltimore, Atlanta, and Las Vegas. Was torn to pieces by the Feds in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but they're still kicking around.

After Paul Castellano was bumped off in '85, John Gotti took over the Gambino family.
