What is Gate Wait?

The act of waiting alone at the entrance to a building for a ride, basically looking like a total loser, willing your ride to pull up the street so everyone can see that you actually have an agenda. Often one will pretend to be texting or calling someone on there cell so it looks like they know what they're doing.
guy 1: Hey man saw you standing outside best buy the other day
guy 2: Ugh, ya. i was pulling a major gate wait
guy 1: That's some tough shit man
