Gatso

What is Gatso?

1.

Short for "Gatsometer" - a Dutch made "photographic trap" system used in the UK and Europe to identify speeding motorists. The GATSO traps are unmanned and take a photo of the rear of the speeding vehicle.

"Gatsometer BV" was founded in 1958 by Maurice Gatsonides, who was a famous rally driver and invented the "Gatsometer". This was the world's first reliable speed measuring device.

Fucking GATSO camera photographed me speeding on the A449. I wish those cunting police officers would invest more time and money in catching burglars instead of implementing another of the government's plethora of stealth taxes.

2.

A metal pole that was pushed up and out of the earth from hell by the devil himself.

The government make money out of them with the pathetic excuse of saving lives. Because of these devices there are less police on the road to look for the more dangerous unregistered, unlicensed or drunk drivers.

"Lets put another GATSO on a strait section of downhill A-road to "save lives"......and make millions of £ more revenue!" - DFT.

3.

A clever device invented by a swedish rally driver to help him improve his driving, but once the UK government got to know about it then the little grey money boxes started appearing in places where they would make the best profit. They are just another one of Tony Blairs (see arsehole) schemes to milk and piss off all of his precious voters which I'm proud to say I'm not one!

GATSO cameras rarely have anything to do with road safety!
