What is Ghanashyam?

Sanskrit. In Hinduism, this was the childhood name of Lord Krishna. Literally, the word translates to "Stormy Skies" or "Dark Heavens" ("Shyam" for "dark" and "Ghan" for "sky"). Lord Krishna was so nicknamed because of his dark complexion.
Because Krishna had dark complexion, the kids called him "Ghanashyam."
