Ghasp

What is Ghasp?

1.

When entering text using a mobile phone, you sometimes have to press the same key several times to select a letter. For example: to enter C you press key 2 three times.

To enter two letters which reside on the same key, you have to pause in between to allow the phone to enter the letter before pressing it again.

For example: to enter CAT you press 2-2-2 for the C then pause before pressing 2 again for the A.

That pause is called a ghasp. The word comes from "taking a breath" in the middle of typing. The word itself contains two ghasps.

"I hate texting your name. It's got too many ghasps in it"
