To consume intoxicants well above the limits of ones max, often resulting in irrational, strange, perhaps funny behavior and possibly ending by passing out.
It was clear Jim had "gone toastal"; evident by his 15th beer, his crazy mutterings and the drool running out of his mouth after passing out.
