This is a word born from an accidental misspelling of "growl".
A gowler is one that is lame, annoying, spiteful, and/or games in an unfavorable fashion.
Gowling can be both a good thing or a bad thing. When "I" gowle, I am pwning. When you gowle, you suck. Being a gowler is never good. Hence, a gowler is not always one that gowles.
Gowle (and its conjugations) are often written in leet.
