Grief porn is a form of masturbatory frenzy engaged in by the media and politicians when there is some form of disaster. It exploits the basic voyeuristic nature of humans who get their rocks off by feeling good by looking at the suffering of others.

A recent of example of grief porn here in Australia was the mawkish obsession with the four-year-old girl thrown off a bridge by her deranged father, and the ongoing obsession with pictures of the poor girl in the local media. A similar example is the excessive presentation of baby photos of adults children and babies recently incinerated alive in the recent wildfires in Australia.
