What is Grosset?

an unexplainable part which has a function which is either unknown or unexplainable, similar to a thingymabob but used in a conversation or discussion of a more technical nature.
I was totally flummoxed until i realised the grosset was out of line with the camber of the grommitpule.
Nah man! It was the grosset which threw the timing out, innit!
