Heathcliff

What is Heathcliff?

1.

The name of a fat orange cat from an 80s cartoon show, aired on Nickelodeon in the early 90s.

Heathcliff, Heathcliff, no one should terrify their neighborhood!

2.

One of the main characters in Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. He was adopted into the Hindley family; the daughter, Catherine, loved him, and he loved her. He was, however, very dark and brooding and tormented. Many women have a crush on this fictional character because for some inexplicable reason, women seem to like dark, brooding tormented men in works of fiction, though they often don't in real life. Heathcliff served him both as a first and last name. He is famous for walking alone out on the English moors.

"He's such a Heathcliff." (Said about someone with a short temper prone to spend time by himself brooding about his horrible life.)

3.

That fat orange feline who never got his big movie break like Garfield did.

At least the cartoon wasn't that bad...

4.

A break from rigorous activity. E.G. recess during school or a coffee break during work. Coined by Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show when he claimed that school recess used to be referred to as "taking a Heathcliff".

Man, carrying these boxes is hard. I'm gonna take a Heathcliff.

See break, rest, chill, relax, chillax, cosby
