It's background has very implications but roughfuly it's a mixture between a hippie, a goth and a beatnic. Most likely they share some spiritual aspiriation to one faith or another and they enjoy poetry, and have 60's political philosophy regarding politics
He was a hipothnic because he seen the world as both a dark and shinning place, he enjoyed poetry he was really into left wing thinking, he was spiritual intertwing his political and spiritual ideas into one.
