2/4 of a pie is not the same as 1/2 of a pie. You can take 2/4 of the pie away, that means you have 2 peices left, which means I'm left with 2/2 of the pie. I can now take 1/2 of the pie and that only gives me 1 peice. You have 2 peices and I have 1. How is 1 equal to 2?
