HONClBrIF is an acronym for Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine, and Fluorine. These are the elements that when alone, must be in a pair. The phrase was coined by J.R. Fong, the former head of the chemical department at Neutrogena. Pronounced, HUN-CUL-BRIFF.
