the words meaning is a long time. if you aint seen someone in a while or if you aint been someplace in a while or done something in a while it will a hot minute. it can mean in years months weeks or days. just means awhile
i have not seen you in a hot minute.
damn boy i aint been up here in a hot minute.
i have not played basketball in a hot min.

Typically longer than the slang "minute" the hot minute is defined as a very long time. Usually between a two to twenty years.
"He been in jail for a hot minute"

A period of time, usually ranging from a few months to a few years.
I haven't seen that throwback for a hot minute.

A hot minute meaning you haven't seen or done something in a long time ranging from 20-30 minutes to an hour or more.
