What is Hyperlative?

An extension of superlative.

It is essentially a word used to describe the greatness of something in an inappropriate context.

Examples include 'experience', 'sensation' and 'revolution'.

"This groundbreaking new rice cracker is a revelation - a whole new experience in taste sensations." has a bad case of hyperlative usage.
