(n.)
A piece of classic or contemporary literature that is exceedingly and painfully dull, boring, inane, banal, and unreadable.
Illiterature is usually not read on one's own accord. Teachers usually assign illiterature to students in times of rest such as spring break. Man students fail their English classes due to this unreadable material.
"Tess of the D'Urbervilles is an excelent example of classic British illiterature."
"The illiterature that my English teacher assigned us to read is simply too dull to read for more than five minutes at a time."
