To state the obvious.
Tim is having lunch when Tony walks in. Tony says, 'Oh, you're having lunch.'
Tim replies, 'That's a ioannarism if ever I heard one.'
In some cultures, it is common to state the obvious- Ioannarism- however, it is still annoying in British culture.
