What is Jiveshake?

Similar to a hanshake except instead of grabbing the whole hand, the participants grab onto the base of the thumb.
Originates from mid 80's black hip-hop culture but is now an accepted greeting among all brothas
Variations include bending the fingers after release, snapping ones fingers or even a fist pound in some cases.
Since I have a diverse group of friends, I often have to switch from the handshake to the jiveshake.
