What is Jorvik?

The name Jorvik was also used for the surrounding area (mainly what is now Yorkshire) and was known as the Kingdom of Jorvik. The Viking presence is still felt today in Yorkshire, as shown in the local accents, culture, placenames and in various places of interest in the Yorkshire area.
