Jowell Hour

What is Jowell Hour?

1.

Additional drinking time in UK pubs following Government legislation to permit 24-hour opening of such hostelries.

The Government Minister for Culture, Media and Sport at the time the new legislation became law was Tessa Jowell MP.

Although few establishments brought in 'round the clock' hours, it does provide for greater flexibility, especially useful on weekends.

"Fancy a bev in the Crown?"

"It's 23:15, they'll have stopped serving."

"It's Friday. You're forgetting Jowell Hour."
