KC and the Sunshine Band formed by Harry Wayne "KC" Casey (lead vocals and keyboard) and Richard Finch (Bass) were the first European American/White men to have five # 1 hits on the "Pop Charts" along with four #1 hits on the "R&B Charts" simultaneously during the 1970's -- a feat still to this day that no group has beaten.

KC and the Sunshine Band, the multi--racial group of African Americans/Blacks and European Americans/Whites were one of the first groups to sell millions upon millions of records around the world.

Original members of the group included Fermin Coytisolo (congas), Robert Johnson (drums), Denvil Liptrot (tenor saxophone), Jerome Smith (guitar), Ronnie Smith (trumpet), James Weaver (trumpet), and Charles Williams (trombone) -- all part of the famous rhythmic and melodic horn section with its famously know strong backbeat and 4/4 feel .

Harry "KC" Casey was born on January 31, 1951 and Richard Finch in 1954.

The group hails from Hialeah, Florida -- a Miami suburb.

KC and the Sunshine Band originally toured with nine to eleven members and today are still on the road.

The second "starting" song that propelled KC and the Sunshine Band into their own recording contract was the "up tempo" love song -- "Rock Your Baby," written by Casey and Finch in 1974 that went to #1 on the R&B charts for two weeks as sung by George McCrae and produced by Casey and Finch.

The "first" was the Casey & Finch's, "Queen of Clubs," and their album production work on "So Crazy ('Bout You)" that gained them a following in the United Kingdom's Soul scene.

Harry Wayne "KC" Casey has had hits on his own with the likes of Teri DeSario in 1979 with the #1 Adult Contemporary "hit" song for 2 weeks from 12/22/1979 into the early part of 1980.

Today, KC and the Sunshine Band still tour around the globe with a continual and ever growing audience and fan base.

Special Historical Music Note:

James "J.T." Taylor of the music group "Kool and the Gang" toured with KC and the Sunshine band's second horn touring group on trumpet before contributing his vocals to the song, "Ladies Night," that became a gold single and stayed #1 on the R&B chart for three weeks in November of 1980 -- one of the group's many hit recordings.

The "Pop" and "R&B" group ",Kool & the Gang," added lead singer James "J.T." Taylor to their lineup in 1978 to present and also still tour today.
