verb. to be 'kershed' is to be within receipt of social security benefits or to be commonly known as 'fucked' - ultimately pertaining from the orig. source of cockney rhyming slang 'kershaw' ie. 'poor' - see 'po'' 'gypo' or even'giro scum'(a northern colloquialism) for further reference.
As in " It was such a terrible tragedy. He had so much much to give, but alas, he kershed his life away..."
