What is Kray Twins?
1.
Refers to the two Kray brothers, Ronnie and Reggie.
Two of the most notorious gangsters in the history of the UK, if not the world. The Krays were popular for their old-fashioned East End values of family and honour. Recruited white cockneys into their organisation and fought with cavalry sabres, sten guns from WWII, Luger pistols, and handmade blunt devices.
Both were mentally unstable and had troubled pasts. Had a great affection for their mother in particular. Were meant to have famously walked out of a barrack room during national service, whereupon the NCO said "where the hell do you think you two are going?" and they replied "for a cup of tea with our mum" before knocking him out.
Ronnie and Reggie started the criminal organisation "The Firm." Many modern gangs in the UK take on the name of the "Firm" to describe their mob, usually named after the bosses surname. For example, the "Richardson Firm."
Though the Krays and the other Firms at the time were a burden on East London's society, many looked up to them for their principles of never attacking a woman or old person, and bringing harsh justice to those who did. It is believed if the Krays were still around today, only white English people would be living in East London.
90% of armed robberies outside of London are committed by Londoners. This is one of the legacies left from the Krays, as London Firms today send out Londoners into the rest of the UK to set up local crime syndicates.
The Kray twins were, and still are, famous.
