A generally misunderstood term meaning:

To be attacked by people who lie about their own wealth and the fact that they are rich. Especially by Cormacks as they have much more money than they know what to do with, but claim that all others are Cormacks.

"That great lad is a Lawrance because he keeps getting verbal abuse from that Cormack over there!"

to have money but not to recognise this obvious fact.

you are a rich boy said the fisherman to the spoilt child. no i am not said the small boy from great coates. in that case my friend you are a lawrance replied the fisherman.
