A lazy shortstop would be a person who is in a serious relationship, but may stray to the "strange" part of town and hook up with another person if an opportunity presented itself that was unavoidable or just too good to pass up.

Man I love my girlfriend, but hell I'm a lazy shortstop... I won't dive for one, but if you hit one straight to me, I might just have to catch it!
