What is Lembas?

A thin cake, made of meal baked a light brown on the outside, cream coloured on the inside. Will keep sweet for many days if unbroken and left in original leaf wrappings, and extremely nourishing to the effect that one cake would keep a traveller on his feet for a day of long labour. Called "waybread" by elves.
He was away some time, and Frodo after a few mouthfuls of lembas settled deep into the brown fern and went to sleep.
