What is Lightwindow?

A web interface where the link target, regardless of type though usually a photo or video, appears in a superimposed, pop over layer often with the original page greyed out to display media without surfing away from the original page. An alternative to a pop up. This feature is popularoften associated with Web 2.0 designs and also called single modal window, lightbox, or slimbox.

Many photo galleries show enlargened photos in a lightwindow.
