An adult male who, due to a psychological or physical issue (often lack of stature) which gives them a complex of inadequacy , feels compelled to "prove themselves" to both friends and others on any given occasion by advocating and indulging in stupid and often dangerous acts of male bravado. The participants are often aided in these acts by their

When playing drinking games that players can define rules, the little man rule is usually stated:
Every time you have to drink (not casually) you must pretend there is a little man sitting on your drink which you must remove and replace after drinking. Failure to do so will result in further drinking as a penalty.

Disparaging term used by someone who is envious of another because the former didn't have the courage, intelligence, and/or determination to accomplish what the latter did. Thus, to make himself/herself feel better they must point out that the achiever is not "all that" because he's short.
Term used to describe a man who is believed to have resorted to wile in order to accomplish something due to a lack of physical power or power in general.
Disparaging term used as a stronger substitute to "loser." It is used by someone who is very upset by another, usually preceded by the adjective "pathetic." However, if this person were in reality a pathetic little man, the natural emotional response to him would be pity, not anger.
Napoleon is usually described as having a "little man" complex. Evidence shows, however, that his height was the equivalent of 5'9" by today's standards (average male height in the U.S.A.) He is perceived as short because he frequently had portraits done of him standing next to his troops, some of which were very large men.
"The little man said he had worked on my car like he promised." As said by my girlfriend, who was upset because three weeks after she paid over a thousand dollars to have her car fixed, it started giving her trouble again.
"You pathetic little man!" Said to me by my ex-roommate's silly girlfriend during an argument she was losing. She had trouble understanding the concept of guests having to accomodate to hosts, and not the other way around. (I'm a little over 5'6".)
