Everyone knows everyone else, and its generally really boring. Lots of drugs, lots of sex, and lots of adultery.

Means "the stops" in Spanish. As in, everyone stops in Los Altos to laugh at all the retired folks who blew all their cash on an expensive house and now have to cut out coupons to pay for food.

Los Altos, Palo Alto, Los Gatos, Portola Valley, and Woodside are in the Bay Area. Everyone wants to live there.
