What is Lynn, Ma?

The limerick "Lynn Lynn, City of Sin, You never go out the way you came in" is used facetiously to describe this city. City officials have long tried to improve it’s image and reputation with little to no success.
In 1993 they tried a new slogan… "Lynn, Lynn, City of Firsts!" Unfortunately Lynn wasn’t really the “first” to do much of anything. In fact one of the things claimed to have happened “first” in Lynn later was proved to be wrong. It was long believed in this city that Lynn had held the first baseball game under artificial light. It turns out that distinction goes to Ft. Wayne, Indiana
One distinction Lynn does have for being the “first” is in October, 1942 the General Electric Company (G.E.) successfully built two jet engines which were used to power an aircraft, the Bell XP-59A Airacomet, thus launching the United States into the Jet Age!
Youth gangs have lately taken a strong hold on the city and it’s becoming as bad as anywhere on the west coast. Many people who can afford to leave have done so. The economy is currently so bad that every teacher in the city voted to work a day without pay so layoffs would not be immediately necessary.
One project they have recently finished has become a huge success and does some good every day it exists. They recently demolished and rebuilt a football stadium. Manning Field is its name and every visiting team and their families are simply blown away when they come here. It is state of the art in every way. Money well spent! It gives the sporting youths a first class facility to compete in and be proud of. The place is always booked and always full. There are nothing but positive things happening there.
I can't think of a better improvement the city has ever made. Getting kids involved in sports at an early age surely helps build character and hopefully keeps them away from drugs when they hit their teens
