What is Mad As A Spoon?

Someone who is psychologically unbalanced and believes in facts which are illogical or ridiculous and are not believed by the mass majority of human beings, e.g. that they are a chicken, that during the night their body hair leaves it's respective follicle’s and goes out boozing or that gnomes steal their underwear.
A man who thought he was being hunted by an invisable chicken was as mad as a spoon.
