What is Manchester Buccaneers?

1.

Manchester Buccaneers are the exciting new brand name for the football club formerly known as Manchester United. I mean, how can you call your team Manchester United, when there are 2 clubs in Manchester. Malcolm Glazer knows this, and applying his cool business head has renamed the club. No longer will Manchester United be quaint little football team which some hooligans support, instead the Manchester Buccaneers will lead the field in SoccerTainment and Merchandising.

Malcolm Glazer is not a football fan, he is not even a sports fan. He is a business man. He doesn't care about the history of the club, he doesn't understand or care for the passion of the fans, and he doesn't even know the rules of football. Manchester United will never again be about the football, it'll be about the money. And if renaming the club to Manchester Buccaneers and having Jar Jar Binks as team mascot will generate cash, then Malcolm Glazer will steamroll ahead with these exciting new changes.

This guy is not like Roman Abramovich. Roman Abramovich is a a russian billionaire who wants to play a real life version of Championship manager. If Chelsea make him money, then yeah, he's happy with that. On the other hand, Malcolm Glazer is not going to be putting any money into the club, he doesn't even have any money to buy the club. So what does he do? He buy's the club by securing loans against the club itself, great, he's got a mortgage.

And the guy has a history of being a jackass too. He got the city of Tampa to build his NFL team a new stadium or else he'd move the club to a different city. Thing is, Tampa folded, and caved in to his ludicrous demands. The city of Manchester sure won't do that, so how is this guy gonna make money? He's going to try and alter the rules for collective bargaining over TV rights in the premiership. This is not going to happen, you need 14 of the 20 clubs to agree with you, unless Malcolm Glazer buys these 14 clubs by buying mortgages on all of them, he's not going to see this happen. Another way, is to rename Old Trafford and seek sponsorship. He is going to do this, no longer will Manchester Buccaneers play at Old Trafford, but they'll play at the Tampax Stadium, sponsored by that handy solution to the female hygiene problem.

None of this matters to me though, being the Liverpool supporter that I am. So in future, only refer to Manchester United as Manchester Buccaneers and rub it into their fans faces the future that faces their club.

Breaking News 2007. Malcolm Glazer has just announced that the Manchester Buccaneers team will be moving base to relocate to the states. Malcolm cites the poor Manchester weather for the move and is sure of the club's success at the newly built Coca Cola Dome. Manchester Buccaneers are now favourite to win the United States SoccerBowl competition.
