What is Man-girlfriend?

A male friend who is a surrogate replacement of a girlfriend or spouse in a heterosexual way. MGs are in near constant communication and may talk more than an actual girlfriend or spouse. Similar to a wingman but with more responsibility, a man-girlfriend will do anything that is typically done by a girlfriend (other than sex). Seth and Evan, in the cult classic Superbad, were man-girlfriends.
“My man-girlfriend hasn’t called me today and I’m starting to get a little worried.”
“Dude, have you talked to Brady lately? What the hell is his problem? His man-girlfriend is out of town and he’s going into withdrawal.”
