A term used to refer to the video game Mass Effect, a sci-fi role playing game from developer Bioware for the Xbox 360 released on November 20th, 2007.

Originally used to communicate an individual's excitement of the game prior to its release. The game also allows the user, who plays as Commander Shepherd - to have sexual relationships with some of his or her shipmates which lends itself to the sexual reference and the ease with which "effect" can be changed to "erect"
