An island off the coast of Greece (or around there). A Spanish word originally, it translates as 'to kill'. Can be used as a name. Whoever has this name is usually a hot-tempered idiot who has awesome fighting skills and no brain whatsoever. Will usually grow up to be a serial killer.
Girl: My last name is Matala.
Boy: *backs away*
Girl: What?
