What is Matildas?

The purple blocks found in Halo 2. Most prevalently found in one corner of Burial Mounds. To all knowledge they are useless.
quick McIntire, get him, he is over there by the matildas.

The odd purple things found in the corner of the level in Burial Mounds in Halo 2. No one knows what they are except that they are matildas.
