Medusae

What is Medusae?

1.

A free swimming infant form of sessile aquatic life. So called because of its whiplike protrusions which vaguely resemble the snakes that formed Medusa's hair.

"After self-fertilization, a single celled medusae is formed. This form is free to swim around, until it finds a suitable location, whereupon it will attach itself permanently and develop in to the sessile polyp form."
