<noun> A person residing in an urban or suburban area that has a sense for trends and what is "hip" a few years ahead of the time this said trend becomes mainstream. These people tend to be involved in a new cutting edge technology in one way or another.

This term metropolitician was popularized by the beastie boys music group on their albumed titled song released in 1995.
