Also mid scoop. An equalizer setting used for electric amplified instruments. The midrange frequencies are cut off/scooped out. Used to make the sound fatter, especially for bass slapping and hard overdriven guitar riffing.
You can get an awesome heavy metal sound with a high amount of distorsion and a midrange scoop.
