What is Missing White Woman Syndrome?
1.
The tendency of the news media to focus strongly on kidnap, rape or murder victims that are young, attractive, female and white while ignoring any similar victim that does not meet all four criteria. A notable example is the media focus on Jessica Lynch when her black squadmate Shoshana Johnson received no attention whatsoever. Nancy Grace is a prime perpetrator of the bias.
