Mucoid is a term for the appearance of a food product or fecal matter from a person that appears to contain mucous-like material either on the surface or encapsulated within the biological matter. Associated with "Hamburger Disease" or Hemorrhagic E. coli.
People who are infected with E. coli O157:H7 may have bloody,
mucoid hemmorragic diharrea as their kidneys shut down and liquify.
Sugar that is contaminated with L. mesenteroides will form a
slimy , mucoid substance appearing as white or greenish white liquid.
