What is Musical Heresey?

When one keeps associating a band or other musical group with the wrong genre, or when the band itself calls itself the wrong genre.
examples of Musical Heresey are:
-A preteen Nu Metal kid calling Slipknot kickass metal, when they are not.
-Avril Lavigne calling herself Punk Rock
-Trying to come up with a genre for Linkin Park and then labelling them as Metal, when they cant be classified, they are a mix of rap and rock, and certainly aren't metal!
-Calling Metallica's 90s albums Thrash Metal or even Metal, they sold out in the 90s and went mainstream rock, they were Thrash Metal only in the 80s
