What is Muskogee?

Muskogee is a town in Oklahoma, affectionately called "the gee" by it's younger residents. As of the 2006 cenus there were about 40,004 people living there. Muskogee is 37 square miles big.
Muskogee was the victim of a country song in 1969 called "Okie From Muskogee" by Merel Haggard.
We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee;
We don't take our trips on LSD
We don't burn our draft cards down on Main Street;
We like livin' right, and bein' free.
The song is a little mistaken, according to the NORML website Muskogee's third cash crop is marijuana. And Muskogee also has a serious drug, gang, and violence problem.
Aside from these less attractive things Muskogee does have some wonderful things to offer. For example Honor Heights park is a huge, beautiful park that slopes down a hill and in the spring and summer is a major tourist attraction and probably even more so in the winter when the entire park is glowing with lights.
Muskogee also is home to the "white dip" which can be found at Hamlin’s restaurant and El Chico. The Muskogee El Chico is the only one in the country that serves this truly addictive creamy dip.
Overall its a small town that got big.
