Someone who is a gnar dog, and also a friend of yours, or a person who is very good at what they do and you appreciate their skill. Can also be pronounced gner.

Guy#1: Wow the singer for that band is very good

Guy#2: Ya he is a friend of mine, He's my gnar/gner
