What is Newfie?

Newfoundlander. (Newfoundland Canada). One of the proudest race of people in the planet. Former fishermen, but since the government shut down the fishery industry, they are still all unemployed, except for the few who run small businesses/stores or those who move away.
They are noted by their notoriously thick accent, such can be heard in expressions such as "ey by! (hey boy / You dont say!)" or "whataya at? (What are you at / What are you doing atthis moment?)"
There is also a breed of jokes called Newfie jokes which poke fun at this breed of human, but ironically enough, Newfies are the creators of such jokes.
In insult, these people have been compared to "red necks"
Jeez, yer a newfie!!
God, he must a freakin Newfie, no one can ride a moose that fast!

A slang term for a person of Newfoundland, Canada's most easterly province. Mostly used by ignorant people or those who think the name is cute. The term is based on the belief that people from this province are dumb, uneducated, barbaric, poor, lazy and unemployed. Like all stereotypical phrases, it is far from the truth and as previously stated based on ignorance. Most Newfoundlanders find this term offensive. However, there are others who use it themselves.

The Newfoundlander's equivalent of the word "nigger"
That is to say, Newfoundlanders can call themselves and other Newfoundlanders "newfie" but if anyone who is not from Newfoundland uses it, it is considered offensive.
Newfie 1: How are you George?
Newfie 2: Great, I love being a Newfie
Non-Newfoundlander: You Newfies crack me up!
Newfies: Watch your mouth.
