This part of the state of virginia is comprised of many identical developments with cliched names such as "oak hill", "maple ridge", or "pine meadow." Of course , the irony behind the situation is that the oaks, maples, and pines have all been cut down.

Northern Virginia has some of the nations worst traffic jams. The area of Northern Virginia now legally extends from D.C. South to Spotsylvania County, Virginia. The only reason Spotsylvania and Stafford Counties are considered part of Northern Virginia is because of the vast commuters to D.C. (Stafford is not any better than Spotsylvania what so ever, in fact Stafford has less population then Spotsylvania. Stafford - 138,000 ; Spotsylvania 145,000) Anyways, There are over 2 million residents in the Northern Virginia region. There are many cultures and languages and also a decent music scene.

Location - Northern Virgina is jagged circular area that is bordered by Potomac, Maryland and DC..OH and of course..Regular.. Virginia. Where the "Mid-Atlantic"(People who can't except the fact that they live in the south and would like to be called middle) ends. Nothern Virgina's "border" ends in Stafford County, Virginia. Which beside Spotsy, Virginia which is nicknamed "Back in the Bushes".

People - Scum of the earth to "regular" Virginia and consider Virginia to be a redneck filled confederate flag waving hick state. They refuse to be apart of Virginia and the South since most of the inhabitants are rich northern migrants who came to exploit cheap land and labor in the 70s and have spawned Nova yuppies ever since. The public schools look more like private schools. They refuse to acknowledge the fact they are below the mason-dixon line and that the area has a rich confederatehistory also they consider themselves superior to any and everyone.Don't bother debating anything with them, they think have an answer to everything.

They do not consider themselves to be apart of Virginia at all and you'll hear them refer to themselves as the 51st state which we proud Virginians wish would happen.

Don't expect to see the 1861 Virginia Flag on any house in Northern Virginia.

A used-to-be Southern place.

Northern Vriginia used to be cultured and refined and genteel like the rest of Virginia and the South. Now its a bland, vanilla milkshake yuppyized Starbucks fragment of what it used to be. Northern Virginia used to look to RICHMOND- NOT D.C. as its cultural reference points. In the last 30 years or so, it has become a cultural void full of NEW MONEYED tranpslants who lack culture of any kind and who are ashamed to be Virginians. As well they should be, because they lack the grace and genteelity that once was Northern Virginia !
