Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, usually abbreviated to NSAIDs, are drugs with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects - they reduce pain, fever and inflammation. The term 'non-steroidal' is used so the difference between these drugs and steroidal drugs with similar properties is distinguishable.
NSAIDS are unusual, as they are non-narcotic.
Everyone has heard of these kinds of drugs, they just may not have known it.
Ibuprofen, aspirin, and acetaminophen are the most common types of NSAIDs.
