dunderhead, nincompoop, dunce; specifically, one who ought to have known better than to overlook such an obvious solution. It is not unusual for an individual to proclaim him- or herself a nurlo after eventually solving a problem, but it is considered rude to accuse someone else of nurlosity.
"OMFG, I can't believe I'm such a nurlo - that was so obvious!"
"You'd have to be a complete nurlo not to look in the dark."
