When someone looking in your direction waves, and you think it's directed at you, so you wave back, but in reality, the wave was really meant for the person behind you.
"I thought the pretty girl in my biology class, Cindy, was waving at me, but it was really aimed at the jock behind me. I was really just the odd wave out."
