Falling in love to such an extent that ripping ones own eyeballs from their sockets; to physically harm oneself so as to prevent intimacy with said object of affection/affliction; to surpass Van Gogh's self-mutilation as an expression of devotion and love. A psychotic state associated with Oedipus Rex, the Greek tragedy of a man who falls in love with his mother, kills his father and stabs his eyes out to avoid seeing his mother. To watch as a friend and acquaintance is confused and harmed out of another's passionate jealousy, resulting in further concern and angst, which results in further passionate jealousy, which results in a Bermuda triangle love affair which results in pain and lost love; gettin' oedipal, in this instance, would be the end result of the two primary members of the love triangle finally consumating their dangerous liason, resulting in self-mutilation, to the point of pulling one's own eyes from his/her sockets to avoid ever seeing, acknowledging or noticing either of their countenaces again. Ever. Ever.
